HST provides our customers with internet service via a CAT5 cable plugged into a power supply with a RJ45 network connector pigtail. The power supply is essential to our service as this powers the outside antenna which transports the signal. This connector is designed to plug in directly to your computer or a router if you have a multi-computer network.

HST will provide a dynamic IP address if you simply configure your computer or router for DHCP. DHCP configuration will automatically configure your connection allowing you to browse the internet with minimal manual configuration. This is the simplest means of connecting to our service.

If you are assigned a static IP address, you will need to manually configure your router to the IP address(es), subnet mask, and DNS servers that we have supplied to you at installation. If you do not have this information or need another copy, please contact us at 210.892.4478 or support@highspeedtexas.com

Notes:
  1. If you plug the service connection pigtail directly into your computer or a network switch, ensure that you have a link/activity light associated withthe connector the cable is plugged into. This light will indicate that your computer is connected the our network and active.

  2. If you use a router, plug the service connection pigtail into the WAN or Internet port and not the LAN port(s). Verify a lighted LED on the WAN or Internet port. Your internal computer network uses the LAN ports and should be separated from the HST network to prevent network routing problems. Configure your router to be assigned a network IP address by DHCP for the WAN or external network. Configure your router to assign DHCP addresses to your LAN computers. Please note that the default configuration for most routers is already configured for DHCP acquire for the WAN and DHCP server enable for the LAN as described above.
